As a guest speaker and ITi representative, Alice Molefe attended the orientation to engage with students, parents, and educators. During her speech, she explained the profound impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in various aspects of life. She highlighted how ICT has revolutionized academics by providing access to vast resources, enabling personalized learning, and fostering collaboration among students and teachers.
Alice also discussed the real-world applications of ICT, emphasizing its role in enhancing communication, streamlining business operations, and improving healthcare through telemedicine and digital records. She remarked, “ICT acts as a transformative force that redefines how we learn and work”. Furthermore, Alice addressed the impact of ICT on daily life, illustrating how it has become integral to modern living—from smart devices and high-speed internet connectivity to online banking and remote working. She shared, “ICT has democratized education, making learning resources accessible to students regardless of their geographical location”.
Lastly, Alice spoke about the future career prospects in the ICT sector, highlighting the growing demand for skills in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and cloud computing. She encouraged students to pursue careers in ICT, stating, “Effective planning in ICT ensures professionals stay competitive and allows them to anticipate and adapt to industry shifts”.
